The Good Acre

Case Study Overview

On a personal note, cooking with nutritious, plant-rich ingredients is a true passion of mine. I wholeheartedly believe in the need to redesign our food systems to nourish our global and local community and to restore our planet. This is where my excitement and support for The Good Acre comes in. The Good Acre is a nonprofit food hub, “Connecting good food, good people and good opportunities”.

Through strategic creative initiatives, I helped develop visual stories to amplify the positive impact The Good Acre has on the local food system here in Minnesota.

As the largest food hub in Minnesota, it is our mission to unlock economic opportunity for farmers in our region through a unique combination of personalized support and market development. Through our programs and services, we help growers, makers, partners, consumers, buyers, and donors sustain a healthier, more equitable food system.

The Visual Identity for VoCul, A Vocational Culinary Training Program

In 2021, I partnered with The Good Acre’s communication team and Culinary Education Manager, Chef Lachelle Cunningham, to develop a visual identity to launch their vocational culinary training program. This project included logo design, program apparel, and a compelling introductory PowerPoint webinar to attract participants.

This creative output celebrates not only the tangible elements of cooking but also envisions the potential growth and transformation of the participants, creating a harmonious fusion of creativity and sustenance.

VoCul is The Good Acre’s farm to school focused vocational culinary training program. Participants go through 10-weeks of a combination of hands-on and online training, followed by an internship at a partnering professional kitchen. This program aims to increase area schools’ capacity for serving healthy, locally-sourced, scratch-cooked meals by training individuals seeking careers and employment in the K-12 school culinary setting. This 10-week paid training program supports the workforce, school foodservice operations, and our regional farm economy. VoCul is accredited by the American Culinary Federation Education Foundation.

The Good Acre’s Annual 2023 Impact Report

In 2023, The Good Acre requested an Annual Impact report, highlighting their growing impact on a healthier and more equitable food system. With the insights that were shared, I developed a visual infographic to deliver a meaningful story of sustained success and continued growth. This infographic was designed both for a 2-page printout and a scrolling web graphic.

👏 Congrats on a record-breaking year!
